A Cow in Norwalk

It might not be everyday that you see a cow walking through a parking lot.  But then again, maybe you are not at Stew Leonards in Norwalk.  I spotted “Clover” the cow when I pulled in today.

There’s something amicable about a mascot. They wave, you wave back, and kids just love ‘em.

Kids of all ages that is.

I had my camera right nearby so I had to call her over and ask if I could get a pic. It’s not every day you see a cow walking in a parking lot, let alone a photo op.

B.B. the Bluefish is another favorite.

I’ve got a pic or two with B.B. but none of them have made it to my Myspace or Facebook page.

But in a quick search, I did find one of News 12 CT Anchor Heather Kovar from a few September’s ago.

Other famous Connecticut Mascots include: “Jonathan the Husky” named after the first governor of the state, Jonathan Trumbull.

Bridgeport Soundtigers’ “Storm”.

and “Sonar” of the Hartford Wolfpack.

According to the hockey team’s website:  “Sonar” has a very clever name, ”deep” with history.

“The most lovable member of the Wolf Pack organization, mascot Sonar has become a fixture in the state of Connecticut, both at Wolf Pack games and at events throughout the area. Sonar got his name from the SONAR systems used in submarines, the Wolf Pack itself having been named for a term that refers to a group of submarines in attack formation, in honor of the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT and the State’s long association with the U.S. Submarine Fleet.”

Just goes to show you never know… “what’s in a name?”

So next time you’re out at a game, or maybe just shopping–don’t just walk by, take a minute to give ‘em a high five, or get a pic with your favorite furry, or sometimes scaley,  mascot!
