Valencia Luncheria

You may not know this about me, but I am a foodie.  I’m willing to try just about any kind of food from any region of the world, as long as it’s yummy.  I don’t eat simply to experiment like Andrew Zimmerman from the show “Bizarre Foods”.  However, I will say I’ve tried some rather exotic foods like turtle, laba (a guyanese guinea pig), snails, and I think that’s about it… all of which were rather tasty.

I’m always looking for a delicious place to eat whenever I’m on my lunch break, whenever I’m lucky enough to have a break, and that’s when I discovered Valencia Luncheria in Norwalk.

It’s a Venezuelan restaurant, serving up hot arepas and empanadas with whatever filling you desire, and various traditional dishes.  The food, at least what I’ve tried, is absolutely delicious and admittedly just as good, if not better than the food I had when I was IN Venezuela!

If you’re not afraid to feast on the swine, try their roasted pork arepa, a.k.a pernil.  The meat is tender and juicy with all the right flavors.  Yum!  I also hear their “Zack” arepa, crispy chicken with honey, is also a winner.

And don’t forget to smear yours with their guasacaca sauce.  It’s a blend of avocado and cilantro, goes with just about everything and tastes so good, it’s almost addictive!

I’d also recommend their seafood paella.  Every bite is bursting with flavor, and on Sundays it’s a few dollars cheaper.  I shared it with my friend, Michelle, and we were both fighting for the last bite, so don’t share if you’re particularly hungry.

Another must is their grilled corn with chili and lime.

Enjoy!
